Eid Date Calculator

Quick answer
Eid al-Fitr falls on 1 Shawwal and Eid al-Adha on 10 Dhul Hijjah in the Islamic calendar. Converted to Gregorian, the expected Eid date for Eid al-Fitr 2027 is Tuesday 9 March 2027 and for Eid al-Adha 2027 is Sunday 16 May 2027 on the Umm al-Qura calendar. In countries that rely on local moon sighting, such as Pakistan and India, Eid is often one day later.
Our free Eid date calculator shows both Eids for any year, how many days are left, and a table of the next ten years, so you can plan leave, travel, shopping and family gatherings well ahead.
How Eid Dates Are Worked Out
Both Eids are fixed in the Hijri calendar, which follows the Moon. Each Hijri month starts with the new crescent, so a Hijri year has about 354 days, 11 days fewer than a Gregorian year. That is why Eid comes roughly 11 days earlier every year and moves through all the seasons over about 33 years.
| Year | Eid al-Fitr (1 Shawwal) | Eid al-Adha (10 Dhul Hijjah) |
|---|---|---|
| 2026 | Fri 20 March | Wed 27 May |
| 2027 | Tue 9 March | Sun 16 May |
| 2028 | Sat 26 February | Fri 5 May |
| 2029 | Wed 14 February | Tue 24 April |
| 2030 | Mon 4 February | Sat 13 April |
Dates are from the Umm al-Qura calendar used in Saudi Arabia. The official Eid in your country is announced by the local moon sighting committee and can be a day later.
How to Use the Eid Date Calculator
Step 1: Enter the Year You Want
Open the Eid date calculator and type a Gregorian year. It starts with the current year. Here we use 2027.

Step 2: See Both Eid Dates and the Countdown
Two cards show Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha with the full date, weekday and Hijri date. For 2027 that is Tuesday 9 March (1 Shawwal 1448) and Sunday 16 May (10 Dhul Hijjah 1448). Each card counts the days left, or how long ago it was.

Step 3: Switch to Local Moon Sighting
If your country usually celebrates a day after Saudi Arabia, choose 1 day later. Eid al-Fitr 2027 then shows as Wednesday 10 March and Eid al-Adha as Monday 17 May.

Step 4: Plan Ahead with the 10-Year Table
The table lists both Eids for ten years starting from the year you entered. Notice 2033, which has two Eid al-Fitr dates, on 3 January and 23 December, because the Hijri year is shorter.

Eid al-Fitr vs Eid al-Adha
- Eid al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the month of fasting. It is celebrated on 1 Shawwal with the Eid prayer, charity (Zakat al-Fitr), new clothes and family visits.
- Eid al-Adha is on 10 Dhul Hijjah, during the Hajj. It remembers the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) to sacrifice his son, and many families offer a sacrifice and share the meat.
- The gap between the two is about 70 days.
Eid Date Tips
- Book travel and leave with a one-day buffer, since the official date is confirmed only the evening before.
- Eid al-Fitr comes after the 29th or 30th day of Ramadan, depending on the moon.
- For a full month view with Islamic dates, use the Gregorian to Hijri calendar.
