Budget Planner Online – Track Income, Expenses and Net Balance
Budget Planner
Keep track of your cash flow. Add your income and expenses below, and let the dashboard calculate your net balance automatically.

Quick answer
Choose Income or Expense, enter a description and amount (and a category for expenses), then press Save Transaction. The budget planner online updates your net balance, total income and total expenses straight away and shows what share of spending goes to each category. Data is saved only in your browser.
A budget is simply a plan for your money: what comes in, what goes out and what is left. Writing every transaction down is the fastest way to find out where your money really goes.
This budget planner online keeps that process light. Add income and expenses in seconds, and the dashboard does the maths: net balance at the top, a list of recent transactions and a category breakdown with percentages.
Worked Example
| Transaction | Type | Category | Amount |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly salary | Income | – | +$3,200 |
| Freelance project | Income | – | +$450 |
| Rent | Expense | Housing | −$1,100 |
| Groceries | Expense | Food | −$380 |
| Fuel and bus pass | Expense | Transportation | −$160 |
| Streaming and cinema | Expense | Entertainment | −$45 |
| Gym membership | Expense | Health | −$35 |
Total income $3,650 − total expenses $1,720 = net balance $1,930. Housing makes up 64% of spending ($1,100 ÷ $1,720), food 22% and transport 9%.
How to Use the Budget Planner Online
Start with this month’s income, then add expenses as they happen or from your bank statement.
Step 1: Choose Income or Expense
Use the toggle at the top of Add Transaction. Expense shows an extra Category menu.

Step 2: Enter a description, amount and category, then save
Type a short description such as “Electricity bill”, the amount, and for expenses a category such as Housing & Utilities, Food & Groceries, Transportation, Entertainment, Shopping, Health & Fitness or Other. Press Save Transaction.

Step 3: Check your net balance, income and expenses
The three cards at the top update instantly: net balance, total income and total expenses. A negative net balance means you are spending more than you earn.

Step 4: See where your money goes in the breakdown
Expense Breakdown lists each category with its total and percentage of spending, largest first. Delete a wrong entry with × in Recent Transactions.

The 50/30/20 Rule
A popular starting point is to split take-home pay into 50% needs (housing, food, transport, bills), 30% wants (eating out, entertainment, shopping) and 20% savings or debt repayment. Compare your expense breakdown with these targets to see where you could adjust.
Budgeting Tips
- Log expenses the same day so nothing is forgotten.
- Review the breakdown weekly; small categories add up.
- Treat savings as an expense you pay first, not what is left over.
- Start a fresh budget each month to compare months.
