Quick answer

A smoking cost calculator shows how much money cigarettes cost you. Choose your currency, enter the price per pack, cigarettes per pack, how many you smoke per day and, optionally, how many years you have smoked, then click Calculate True Cost. The tool shows the total spent so far, your weekly and monthly cost, and how much you would save over the next 10 years by quitting today.

Our free smoking cost calculator supports US dollars, euros, pounds, Pakistani and Indian rupees, Australian dollars and Canadian dollars, so you can use your local pack price. Everything is calculated in your browser.

The money is only part of the cost. Smoking is a leading cause of heart disease, stroke, lung disease and many cancers. If you want to quit, a doctor, pharmacist or national quit-smoking service can help with support and proven treatments such as nicotine replacement therapy.

How the Smoking Cost Calculator Works

  • Cost per cigarette = pack price ÷ cigarettes per pack
  • Daily cost = cost per cigarette × cigarettes smoked per day
  • Weekly cost = daily cost × 7; monthly cost = daily cost × 365 ÷ 12
  • Total spent = daily cost × 365.25 × years smoked
  • 10-year savings if you quit = daily cost × 365.25 × 10

Example: a smoker paying Rs 550 for a pack of 20 and smoking 15 a day spends about Rs 412 a day, Rs 2,888 a week and Rs 12,547 a month. Over 8 years that adds up to about Rs 1.2 million, and quitting today would save about Rs 1.5 million over the next 10 years.
