Ovulation Calculator
Ovulation Calculator
Track your cycle and predict your most fertile days

Quick answer
An ovulation calculator estimates ovulation as about 14 days before your next period. Your fertile window is the 5 days before ovulation plus ovulation day. For example, if your last period started on 1 October 2026 and your cycle is 28 days, you will likely ovulate around 15 October, with a fertile window of 10 to 15 October.
Our free ovulation calculator predicts your most fertile days from the first day of your last period and your average cycle length. In one click you see your estimated ovulation date, your fertile window, the date your next period is expected and the earliest day a home pregnancy test is likely to give a reliable result.
Use the ovulation calculator if you are trying to conceive, want to understand your cycle better or simply want to know when your next period is due. Your dates stay on your device and are never stored.
What Is Ovulation?
Ovulation is the moment an ovary releases a mature egg, usually once per menstrual cycle. The egg survives for about 12 to 24 hours, while sperm can survive in the body for up to 5 days. That is why the days leading up to ovulation are the most fertile. You can read more about ovulation and the menstrual cycle.
Next period = Last period + Cycle length
Ovulation day ≈ Next period − 14 days
Fertile window = Ovulation day − 5 days to ovulation day

Ovulation Calculation Example
- Last period started: 1 October 2026, cycle length 28 days.

- Ovulation: 29 October − 14 days = 15 October 2026.
- Fertile window: 10 October to 15 October 2026.
- Pregnancy test: from the day your period is due, 29 October.
Ovulation Dates by Cycle Length
For a last period starting on 1 October 2026:
| Cycle length | Estimated ovulation | Fertile window | Next period |
|---|---|---|---|
| 24 days | 11 Oct | 6 to 11 Oct | 25 Oct |
| 26 days | 13 Oct | 8 to 13 Oct | 27 Oct |

Signs of Ovulation
- Cervical mucus changes: it becomes clear, slippery and stretchy, like raw egg white.
- Basal body temperature: a small rise of about 0.2 to 0.5°C after ovulation.
- Positive ovulation test: home LH tests detect the hormone surge 24 to 36 hours before ovulation.
- Mild pelvic pain: some people feel a twinge on one side, known as mittelschmerz.
How Accurate Is an Ovulation Calculator?
An ovulation calculator works best for regular cycles. Ovulation does not always happen exactly 14 days before a period, and stress, illness, travel or irregular cycles can shift it. For a more precise picture, combine the ovulation calculator with ovulation test strips or temperature tracking, and speak to a doctor if your cycles are very irregular or you have been trying to conceive for a long time.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I calculate my ovulation date?
Add your cycle length to the first day of your last period to find your next period, then count back 14 days. With a 28-day cycle, ovulation is usually around day 14.
What is the fertile window?
It is the 6-day span made up of the 5 days before ovulation and the day of ovulation. Sperm can live up to 5 days and the egg about a day, so pregnancy is most likely during this time.
Can I use an ovulation calculator with irregular periods?
You can, but the result will be less reliable. Use the average of your recent cycles, and consider ovulation test strips or tracking symptoms for better accuracy.
When should I take a pregnancy test?
Most home tests are reliable from the first day of your missed period. The calculator shows this date as the approximate pregnancy test date.
Can I get pregnant outside the fertile window?
It is less likely but possible, because ovulation can happen earlier or later than predicted. Do not rely on an ovulation calculator as birth control.
Is the ovulation calculator free and private?
Yes. It is free, needs no sign-up and all calculations happen in your browser.
