Running Pace Calculator – Pace, Finish Time and Distance
Running Pace Calculator
Determine your running pace, total distance, or race finish time. Essential for training for a 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, or Full Marathon.

Quick answer
A running pace calculator works out any one of pace, time or distance when you know the other two. Choose Calculate Pace, Calculate Time or Calculate Distance, enter the values you know (or tap a preset such as 10K), and press the button. For example, 10 km in 55 minutes is an average pace of 5:30 per kilometre.
Our free running pace calculator supports kilometres, miles, metres and yards, and pace per km or per mile. Quick presets fill in the exact distances for 5K, 10K, half marathon (21.0975 km) and full marathon (42.195 km), so race planning takes seconds.
Use this running pace calculator to set goal paces for races, plan long runs, convert a treadmill speed into a target pace, or check how much faster you need to run for a new personal best.
Running Pace Formulas
- Pace = time ÷ distance
- Time = pace × distance
- Distance = time ÷ pace
Pace is usually written as minutes and seconds per kilometre or per mile. To convert, 1 mile is 1.609 km, so a 5:30 per km pace is about 8:51 per mile.

- Practise goal pace in training runs so it feels familiar.
- Allow extra time for hills, heat and crowded starts.
Why Use a Running Pace Calculator?
Knowing your target pace turns a goal time into something you can follow on your watch. A running pace calculator also helps you plan training zones, predict race times from shorter efforts and compare runs on different distances fairly.
