IBAN Validator Online – Check Any IBAN Number in Seconds
IBAN Validator
Use this free IBAN validator online to check the length and Mod-97 checksum of any International Bank Account Number, right in your browser.

Quick answer
To use this IBAN validator online, type or paste an IBAN with or without spaces and press Validate IBAN. The tool checks that the country code is recognised, that the length matches that country (for example 22 characters for Germany or 24 for Pakistan) and that the Mod-97 checksum is correct. A valid IBAN shows its country code, check digits and BBAN. It runs in your browser and nothing is sent anywhere.
An IBAN (International Bank Account Number) identifies a bank account for international transfers. One wrong character can send a payment to the wrong place or get it rejected, and banks may charge a fee for that. This free IBAN validator online catches most typing mistakes before you send money.
I added a country length check to the original Mod-97 test, using the official IBAN registry lengths for 77 countries. That way an IBAN with a missing or extra digit is flagged even in the rare case that its checksum happens to pass.

How to Use the IBAN Validator Online
Step 1: Type or paste the IBAN
Click the Enter IBAN box and type or paste the number. You can include the spaces from a bank statement or invoice; the tool removes spaces, dashes and lowercase automatically before checking.

Step 2: Press Validate IBAN to run the checks
Press Validate IBAN. The tool checks the format, confirms the country code, compares the length with that country's official IBAN length and then runs the Mod-97 checksum used by banks worldwide.

Step 3: Read the result and IBAN breakdown
A green Valid IBAN result shows the country code, the two check digits and the BBAN (the national bank and account part). A red result explains what is wrong, such as a wrong length or a failed checksum, so you can recheck the number with the account holder.

How IBAN Validation Works
Every IBAN starts with a two-letter country code and two check digits, followed by the national account number (BBAN). To check it, the first four characters are moved to the end, each letter is replaced with a number (A = 10, B = 11 and so on) and the whole number is divided by 97. A valid IBAN always leaves a remainder of 1. This catches all single-character typos and almost all swapped digits.
IBAN Lengths for Common Countries
- Pakistan (PK): 24 characters
- Saudi Arabia (SA): 24 characters
- United Arab Emirates (AE): 23 characters
- United Kingdom (GB): 22 characters
- Germany (DE): 22 characters
- France (FR): 27 characters
- Norway (NO): 15 characters, the shortest in the registry
What an IBAN Validator Cannot Tell You
A valid result means the IBAN is correctly formed. It does not prove that the account exists, that it is open or who owns it. Always confirm the account name with the recipient, and use your bank's confirmation of payee check where available, especially for large or first-time payments.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this IBAN validator online free?

Is it safe to enter an IBAN here?
Yes. The check runs entirely in your browser, and the IBAN is never sent to a server or saved.
Does a valid IBAN mean the account exists?

Yes. Spaces, dashes and lowercase letters are removed automatically before validation.
How long is a Pakistani IBAN?

Which countries are supported?
