Quick answer

A Fibonacci sequence generator lists Fibonacci numbers, where each number is the sum of the two before it: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13 and so on. Enter how many terms you want (or tap 10, 50, 100 or 500), choose a separator and click Generate Sequence. The tool shows the full list, the total sum and the golden ratio approximation, and lets you copy the list in one click.

Our free Fibonacci sequence generator uses BigInt arithmetic, so even very large terms are exact with no rounding or scientific notation. That makes it useful for programming tests, maths projects and puzzles.

The sequence here starts from 0, so the first 20 terms run from 0 to 4,181. You can separate numbers with commas, dashes, spaces or new lines to paste them straight into code, spreadsheets or documents.

The Fibonacci Formula

  • F(0) = 0, F(1) = 1
  • F(n) = F(n − 1) + F(n − 2) for n ≥ 2
  • Sum of the first n terms (F(0) to F(n − 1)) = F(n + 1) − 1

Example: the first 20 terms add up to 10,945, which is F(21) − 1 = 10,946 − 1.

How to Use the Fibonacci Sequence Generator

Use the Fibonacci sequence generator in four steps.

Step 1: Choose How Many Terms You Need

Type a number in Number of Terms or tap a quick limit such as 10, 50, 100 or 500 terms.

Fibonacci Numbers and the Golden Ratio

As the sequence grows, the ratio of each number to the one before it gets closer to the golden ratio φ ≈ 1.6180339887. For example, 4,181 ÷ 2,584 ≈ 1.618034. The golden ratio appears in art, architecture and nature, from sunflower seed spirals to pine cones.

Uses of the Fibonacci Sequence

  • Programming exercises on recursion, loops and dynamic programming.
  • Agile story point estimation (1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13).
  • Technical analysis levels in trading charts.
  • Patterns in biology, such as leaf arrangement and shell spirals.

Why Use a Fibonacci Sequence Generator?

Fibonacci numbers grow quickly; the 100th term has 21 digits. A Fibonacci sequence generator gives exact values instantly and formats them for you, which saves time and avoids the rounding errors common in spreadsheets and basic calculators.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this Fibonacci sequence generator free?

Yes. It is free with no sign-up.

Does the sequence start at 0 or 1?

It starts at 0: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8 and so on.

How many terms can I generate?

You can generate hundreds of terms; the 500 Terms preset is a quick way to see very large exact numbers.

Are large numbers exact?

Yes. BigInt arithmetic keeps every digit exact.

What is the 10th Fibonacci number?

Counting from F(0) = 0, F(10) = 55.

How is the golden ratio calculated?

By dividing the last term by the one before it, which approaches about 1.618.
